A
senior Iranian commander says the air defense base of the Islamic
Republic’s Army enjoys “100 percent command” over the country’s airspace
and its surroundings.
Deputy Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base General Shahrokh Shahram said on Friday that the base is always ready to safeguard Iran's airspace regardless of whether neighbors or transregional forces lie beyond its borders.
Shahram said the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base is responsible for defending Iran's territory and aerospace as well as continuously monitoring the country’s aerial corridors and exit and entrance points.
“Over the past years, the air defense has been working round the clock and without rest,” he said, citing Iran's security as testament to the nonstop efforts.
“We believe that we should always be a step ahead of any potential threat and be ready for them,” the Iranian commander said.
Iran has repeatedly stated that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
